The Big Surf Hotel is one of the few remaining locally owned hotels in Waikiki. This family run establishment was built in 1972 with the economic traveler in mind. Ideally situated between Ala Moana Shopping Center & Beach Park and the Waikiki strip, the Big Surf offers guests clean rooms with a convenient location at an affordable rate.
Starting from humble beginnings, Max Lim, big wave rider and then father of three little girls ventured into construction when few believed in low-cost affordable rentals in Hawaii's booming tourist economy. Set on providing cheap hotel stay for visitors so that all people could enjoy an economical stay in Hawaii Nei, Max built The Big Surf Hotel.
The Lims take pride in their family business and conduct affairs in an honest and straight forward manner to ensure that guests' stay is not only pleasant, but accomodated. Lily and her daughters still manage and run the front desk. Their welcoming demeanor is all a part of the Hawaii spirit they grew up with.
